Rustic decor gives the pub an inviting and homely feel true to the old country pub nature. We take great pride in offering a friendly, traditional style of hospitality complete with a cosy pub atmosphere, good company, a great selection of local and regional ales and lagers, a fine selection of wines, and a menu of hearty English pub food. Proper food, generous portions and sensible prices are what make The Royal Oak so special.

Step outside to the large beer garden, complete with undercover seating area for when the inevitable Peak District weather hits, or venture beyond the pubs grounds and onto the High Peak and Tissington trails which are right on our doorstep.

For those who would like to linger longer our beautiful campsite is a great base for exploring the Peaks. Proper Pub Food

Our aim is to produce good honest pub food that is freshly prepared on the premises. The policy at The Royal Oak is to source the best seasonal produce and support local suppliers. In order to create an extensive menu, suppliers have been chosen from their established and trusted reputations, knowledge and quality of product and with consideration to the environment. Whether it's a light bite, a Sunday Roast, comforting classic or something a little different from the specials board, you are sure to leave more than satisfied.

Aiming to cater to all tastes and if you have any dietary requirements, want something not on the menu, or if you just fancy a dish with different vegetables, salad, or sauce, just ask. Children of all ages are welcome and there is a Children's Menu with smaller portions to tempt little appetites and vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes mean no one is left out.

Our 'Oak Room' allowed larger groups of up to around 30 people to enjoy the Royal Oak experience, perfect for a birthday meal or family get together!

Our menu changes seasonally and with our ever-changing specials board there is always something new and exciting to try.

Our Sister Pub

The Bull I' Th' Thorn Pub & Pizzeria

A mere 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk away sits our sister establishment, The Bull I' Th' Thorn.

The newly refurbished building resembles a cosy, rustic pub and bar area next door to a open, contemporary pizzeria, resulting in the perfect mix of new and old and a totally unique venue. The pizzeria is fitted with TVs showing live Sky Sports and can also be used as a large function room for private parties!

The menu is inspired by casual dining and the star of the show are the pizzas made in authentic Napoleon style and are topped with mouth-watering ingredients. The menu also offers burgers, hot-dogs and sharing plates making the 'Bulli' the perfect place to tear, share and enjoy some delicious food with friends and family.

They also have a campsite. It is larger than ours at the Oak and also offers electric hook-up, and as it is just down the road from us it is also in the perfect location for exploring the beautiful Peak District.
